Government confirms UK will implement EU GDPR

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Karen Bradley MP,confirmed that the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply in the UK.

This announcement should give companies the motivation to implement data protection and cyber resilience policies. You now have less than 18 months until you need to comply with the GDPR – or face fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover, plus the threat of litigation from aggrieved data subjects.
